The base lighting system includes a power switch, transformer, high-intensity LED light, mode selector, brightness adjustment, and an iris diaphragm:

• Bright-field mode (I → BF): The LED positioned directly beneath the stage is turned on, while the ring of side LEDs remains off. This setup provides direct illumination from below, offering a clear and high-contrast view of the gemstone. The iris diaphragm can be adjusted to control light intensity depending on the size of the specimen.
• Dark-field mode (II → DF): In this mode, the ring of side LEDs is turned on and the bottom LED is off. This creates a dark background, which enhances the visibility of inclusions through side illumination. Expanding the iris diaphragm improves the side lighting for better clarity.

Activating the top LED light provides reflected illumination, useful for examining external gemstone features and surface textures.
